Doc Watson

Arthel Lane "Doc" Watson (3 de Março, 1923) nasceu em Deep Gap, Carolina do Norte.
De acordo com Doc, ele obteve o apelido de "Doc" durante uma transmissão de rádio ao vivo quando o apresentador comentou que seu nome Arthel era estranho e ele precisava de um nome fácil para seguir. Um fã na platéia gritou "Chame ele de Doc!" presumindo que fosse uma referência ao companheiro de Sherlock Holmes, Doctor Watson. O nome pegou desde então.
Sem dúvida, muitos cantores do folk atual e até os mais badalados tiveram alguma influência de Doc Watson.
